American Dual Baccalaureate at Atlantic School
At Atlantic School and thanks to an agreement with Academica Corporation, the largest American educational institution, we have been offering our students the possibility of studying the American Dual Baccalaureate Diploma for several years. Through this agreement, 2nd or 3rd year ESO students who wish can start their studies in a double degree program of Spanish and American Baccalaureate. Currently, more than thirty students take this degree at our school.
Students of the Dual Diploma ® only have to take 6 subjects to obtain the American degree. The international agreements reached by Academica and the educational excellence of the program allow obtaining the maximum possible validation: 75% of the 24 credits necessary to obtain the American High School Diploma. The advantage of starting in 2nd grade is THAT the student will only have to study 1 or 2 subjects per course.
Of those 6 subjects, 4 are from the compulsory curriculum and 2 from the elective, which allows students to take subjects of great interest that are not in the European curriculum and offer a plus of motivation to the student by expanding their vocabulary in subjects that would not work in English: Photography Digital, Criminology, Psychology...
The objective is none other than to enhance and deepen bilingualism; in addition, the Dual Diploma provides students with a significant improvement in their level of English, a high degree of personal autonomy and a great ease in handling new technologies.
